As usual, NJEdReport added its own excellent and informed take on Sunlight’s blog congratulating Montclair voters on their landslide victory.  Montclair will now have an elected school board, and the deeply conflicted NJEA President/Montclair Mayor Spiller will no longer have control over Montclair’s school board.

Montclair parents saw their children locked out of school for 13 months and could do nothing about it because of the influence the Montclair Education Association exerted over the school system.  NJEA President/Mayor Spiller sided with the NJEA-affiliated MEA and not Montclair parents and citizens.  The resounding repudiation of Spiller is a victory for Montclair parents and citizens, and indeed a victory for democracy.
