InsiderNJ published SPCNJ’s report on Mark Weber’s flawed research for NJPP on a wage gap between New Jersey teachers and private-sector workers. Weber, a Ph.D., uses faulty methodologies, presents irrelevant studies and worst of all cherry-picks data from studies he cites. Most egregiously, he cites headline numbers from an Economic Policy Institute study that show a 21.4% NATIONAL wage gap, but buries on the last page of the Appendix NEW JERSEY-SPECIFIC data that contradicts his whole argument. This is not serious research and should not be regarded as such. In the end, such shoddy research harms the cause of New Jersey teachers.
