Ben Weingarten of RealClearInvestigations wrote an excellent, balanced piece about so-called “media literacy” laws. Weingarten asked for and Sunlight provided a comment on the New Jersey law, which on its face looks neutral and was supported by numerous Republicans, including Sen. Mike Testa. However, Weingarten’s piece makes clear that the impetus behind many of these laws come from progressive activists and that the implementation of these laws may be less neutral than the wording. That’s a very good point, and we hope we (and others) have not been naive. Something to keep an eye on.
