NJEA Leadership Ignore the Facts and Actively Mislead Teachers about their Pensions

December 14, 2020This time, NJ Education Aid (as posted in an article by NJ Left Behind) does the public the service of exposing more shoddy, biased research from New Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP). NJ Education Aid goes into great detail to discredit NJPP’s “study” that concluded that NJ teachers’ pensions were among the least generous in the nation. NJ Education Aid’s conclusion says it all:
“Saying that NJ’s pensions are ‘among the least generous’ in the United States is untrue…” and ” NJPP’s claims to be a ‘think tank’ shouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s a PR firm.”
Just so. Sunlight would add that NJPP is a PR firm masquerading as a think-tank in the service of its major funder, the NJEA. As we have shown on numerous occasions, Mark Weber (“Jersey Jazzman”), Bruce Baker and NJPP arrive at a preferred conclusion and then cherry-pick the data and manipulate the research to support it. Their “research” should not be taken seriously.
