NJ Spotlight reports that NJ property taxes were up 1.8% from 2019 to 2020. BuryPensions calculates that they actually rose 2.4%. In any event, they are up. But so were income taxes on the wealthy, corporate taxes and gas taxes. The bottom line is that under Gov. Murphy, taxes are UP, UP, UP and UP. That why the Tax Foundation ranks NJ as the worst business tax climate in the nation – FOR THE SEVENTH STRAIGHT YEAR.
It’s sadly fitting that Mondelez confirmed that it is closing its Fair Lawn plant after 60 years. That’s 600 jobs that disappear with Mondelez. When NJ has the worst tax climate, businesses and jobs leave the state. It’s why NJ has one of the worst outmigrations of people, wealth and businesses in the nation.
Who benefits from all these taxes? The government unions. They played a big role in electing Murphy and he has done his best to ensure that they are getting a full and growing pot of tax revenues to spend as they choose – including re-electing Murphy.
What a scam.
